Depending on the weather and snow conditions, many routes can still be explored until December – ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy nature, exercise and the autumn atmosphere. Hiking tips around the Hohe Burg

The Gschnitztal valley is at its most beautiful in autumn: golden forests, clear mountain air and paths that are just as inviting for relaxed walks as they are for scenic summit tours. Whether you prefer a leisurely stroll along the alpine meadows or a strenuous climb up the rugged rocks, there is a route to suit every hiker's taste. Here you will find a selection of hiking tips in the surrounding area.

Tip 1: Padauner Plateau & ‘Blinder Herrgott’ Chapel

A short, leisurely walk that is perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy the tranquillity of autumn nature. The plateau offers a magnificent view of the mountains, and the small chapel invites you to take a break.

Start/finish: Padauner Plateau car park – ‘Blinder Herrgott’ chapel
Length: approx. 2 km
Elevation gain: approx. 100 m
Walking time: 1 – 1.5 hours

Tip 2: Padauner Kogel (2,066 m)

The tour to the Padauner Kogel starts at the car park above the Steckholzer mountain inn and leads through forest and mountain meadows to the summit cross. At the top, you can enjoy a magnificent view of Olperer, Fußstein, Nordkette, Serles and Obernberger Tribulaun. Afterwards, it is worth stopping for a bite to eat at the Steckholzer mountain inn.

Tip 3: Naviser pasture circuit

The circuit through the Navistal valley is ideal for connoisseurs. Numerous alpine huts offer homemade specialities, and along the way you can experience the colourful meadows and forests in their full autumn splendour.

Elevation gain: approx. 700 m
Walking time: 4 – 5 hours

Tip 4: Blaser in the Gschnitztal valley

This summit tour rewards you with a fantastic panoramic view of the Stubai and Zillertal Alps. The trail leads through colourful forests and open meadows – a particularly atmospheric autumn experience.

Elevation gain: approx. 970 m
Walking time: 2 – 2.5 hours ascent

Tip 5: Sumpfkopf via Hochgeneinerjöchl

For ambitious hikers: a summit with fantastic views. If you start early, you can enjoy the tranquillity of autumn and observe the diverse flora and fauna along the way.

Walking time: 2 – 2.5 hours ascent
